How strength found me
Strength found me before I went looking for it.
Sport was my escape at school and I threw the javelin at county level. I dreamt that one day I would represent my country at the Olympics but sport wasn’t a career for someone like me to follow, so I let go of my dream.
Years later, the London 2012 Olympics reignited something within me and I started to throw again. But repeated injuries meant I was pushed into the gym to strengthen my throwing shoulder. That’s where I was told I was ‘freakishly strong’ and I swapped javelin for powerlifting.
The rest they say is history as I went on to represent Great Britain at the World Championships, winning gold and later becoming a British record holder.
My sporting dream came true.

What powerlifting has taught me
Powerlifting has taught me patience.
Discipline.
How to sit with discomfort instead of avoiding it.
It showed me something simple but important…
confidence doesn’t arrive first.
It follows action.

Strength beyond the gym
This page isn’t about medals or numbers.
They matter, but they’re not the point.
It’s about what strength gives you outside the gym.
Calm when things feel heavy.
Trust in your own capacity.
The quiet knowledge that you can carry what’s in front of you… one step at a time.

The kind of strength that lasts
That’s the kind of strength I’m interested in.
The kind you build slowly, and keep.
Strength isn’t about proving anything. It’s about knowing you can keep going.
