A railway journey I’ll never forget

I’ve just come back from the most magical trip with my bestie, travelling by train from Switzerland into Italy.
We started in Chur and travelled the spectacular Bernina route through the Swiss Alps to Tirano, jumping on regional trains throughout the trip and watching the landscape change almost by the minute!
Snow. Glaciers. Mountains.
Then suddenly palm trees, sunshine and gorgeous beaches.
And just when I thought the trip couldn’t get much better, we ended up in Colico on Lake Como’s most northern end staying in a beautiful five-star luxury apartment overlooking the lake.
That bit was a complete surprise.
There are some journeys where getting to the destination is simply the practical bit in the middle.
This was the complete opposite.
Sitting on a train watching Switzerland slowly turn into Italy was the experience.
No weights. No competitions. No freezing myself somewhere ridiculous.
Just two best friends, an extraordinary railway journey and a reminder to occasionally sit still and look out of the window.
